The purpose of the course is to give students an overview of the methodology and of current problems in comparative genomics.
The availability of increasing numbers of complete or near-complete genome sequences from all kingdoms of life is making it possible to compare organisms at the DNA rather than the phenotypic level. These comparisons are already enabling our understanding of the processes of evolution and speciation at the molecular level.
A laptop with wireless connectivity is mandatory.
