  This tutorial aims at presenting the general concepts about High Performance Computing (HPC) in Life Sciences. It is based on the course material used to educate new users of the SIB Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics Vital-IT cluster. Examples are taken from this cluster, but concepts have been adapted to fit most if not all HPC systems in Life Sciences.
