    Introduction to the Analysis and Visualization of Biological Networks with Cytoscape

    Lausanne, 11-12 July 2011

    This course will provide an introduction to the analysis and visualization of biological networks as well as a tutorial on Cytoscape, one of the common tools used in biology for network analysis. The course will cover the following main subjects:

    • A Biological Network Taxonomy
    • Analytical Approaches
    • Visualization Approaches
    • Introduction to Cytoscape
    • Cytoscape use cases:
    • Expression data analysis
    • Clustering of protein-protein interaction networks
    • Introduction to plugin development

    Speakers:

    Allan Kuchinsky (Agilent Labs)
    Alex Pico, Ph.D. (Gladstone Institutes)

    Requirements:

    Participants should bring their own laptops with Java 6 loaded.
    Installers for Cytoscape and all necessary plugins and sample data sets will be provided.

    Practical organization - Location

    Sessions runs from 9:00 to 17:00 approximately, with a lunch break.
    This two-day course is held at the GĂ©nopode building (Auditorium A) of the University of Lausanne.
