    Day one, UNIX (9:00 - 17:00 including 2 coffee breaks and a lunch):

    - project design and data life cycle management:

       - coherent structure and documentation

    - fundamental concepts:

       - modern computing in biology

       - overview of interpreted programming languages

    - introduction to the shell, bash

    - navigating files and directories

    - working with files and directories

    - working with large numbers of files (loops)

    - pipes and filters

    - finding things

    Day two, R (9:00 - 17:00 including 2 coffee breaks and a lunch):

    - introduction to R and RStudio

    - introduction to R syntax, key concepts and objects

    - introduction to RStudio environment

    - formatting/importing data in R

    - worked example with RNA-Seq data:

       - loading a table of normalized counts

       - validating structure, consistency

       - subsetting

       - summary statistics

       - base R plots and ggplots2
